Black Legal Action Centre and McCarthy Tétrault Launches Class Action Against 'Carding' Practice

The Black Legal Action Centre (BLAC) and McCarthy Tétrault LLP have jointly initiated a class action lawsuit against the Toronto Police Service for its controversial “carding” practice, which allegedly targets and harasses black and Indigenous individuals. The practice of carding involves stopping individuals without suspicion of criminal involvement, recording personal information, and sharing it with other agencies. The lawsuit targets Toronto Police Services Board and former and current police chiefs.
