CBC Docuseries ‘Black Life: Untold Stories’ Recaptures Black Canadian History

 

“Black Life: Untold Stories” is a new docuseries that dives into the lesser-known narratives of Black Canadian experiences. The show, consisting of eight hour-long episodes, spans 400 years of Black contributions to Canada, dispelling myths about Canada’s history and its treatment of Black people. The series uses archival footage, reenactments, and interviews with Black Canadians to uncover these untold stories. The series highlights notable figures such as Maestro Fresh Wes, Clement Virgo, and P.K. Subban. The show’s goal is to reframe Canada’s history and amplify the voices of those whose stories have been marginalized, with plans to make educational materials available to schools and communities.
