Helping Vulnerable Youth Involved in the Criminal Justice System

The Government of Canada is supporting innovative efforts to prevent youth involvement in the criminal justice system. As part of Restorative Justice Week, the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice, announced funding for the Circle of Change Restorative Justice program by Friends in Toronto Community Services. The $569,989 over three years will aid Black and racialized youth aged 12 to 17 in the rehabilitation and reintegration process. This culturally informed project employs healing circles to enhance youth rehabilitation, increase access to community-based programs, and expand the use of alternative measures. Friends in Toronto Community Services focuses on empowering at-risk Black and racialized youth and their families in the Greater Toronto Area through various supportive programs.
