New Initiative Aims to Understand Impacts of Climate Change on Vulnerable Groups

Gore Mutual Foundation, in collaboration with Social Innovation Canada and York University’s Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, has initiated The Climate and Equity Lab. This groundbreaking project addresses climate change’s disproportionate impact on vulnerable Canadians, with a focus on those in urban areas.

The Gore Mutual Foundation marked its 25th anniversary by introducing the Equity Acceleration Fund, a $1 million initiative supporting charitable organizations working at the intersection of poverty, equity, and climate change. The Climate and Equity Lab will provide essential research and insights into this critical issue. Stakeholder workshops are set to begin in Vancouver, the Waterloo Region, and Toronto as the first phase of this multi-year initiative. The project aims to create a more equitable and resilient future by collaborating with affected communities.
