Non-Profit Enhances Support with AI-Powered Translation Device
Options Community Services, a non-profit serving Surrey, Delta, and White Rock, has introduced the TranslateLive Instant Language Assistant (ILA) to aid clients who speak languages other than English. This device, launched in May, features encryption and supports over 200 languages, including accessibility options for those who are deaf or have low vision. The ILA Pro device includes two screens for real-time translation, allowing users to see and hear translations in their native languages. Becky Copeland from TranslateLive emphasized its secure, purpose-driven design, while Diana Delgado from Options highlighted its role in filling gaps when human interpreters are unavailable, though limitations exist for certain languages and literacy levels.
