Report Shows Canada failing Black, Indigenous Prisoners as Overrepresentation Persists

A new report says Canada has made little progress in addressing the overrepresentation of Black and Indigenous offenders in prisons, with some facing even worse conditions than they did a decade ago. Black prisoners described their experiences of discrimination and differential treatment. This included the use of derogatory or racist language by Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff, as well as being ignored or disregarded in ways that increase feelings of marginalization, exclusion, and isolation.
