The Government of Canada has announced funding through the Security Infrastructure Program to combat hate-motivated crimes. The Security Infrastructure Program provides financial support to private not-for-profit organizations who are eligible, including community centers, places of worship, educational institutions, and community centers, to enhance their security infrastructure. This year, the program has been expanded to include shelters supporting victims of gender-based violence. Eligible expenses include security equipment, doors, windows, intercoms, and training programs.
